Adding equation to your report in Word document

Firstly, define a new table style with the following properties. This option is accessible via:
Format >> Style >> New (in Mac Office 2011)

The properties:

The formatting for first column and second column, so that we can have the equation centred and the caption on the rightmost:

Secondly, define a new caption label with the symbol open parenthesis ' ( '.

Then, to add your equation, insert a table with 1 row and 2 columns and apply the table style to it. Add your equation into the first column. And caption it in the last column. You need to add the close parenthesis, ' ) ' after your caption number.

Now you can add your equations  repeatedly by applying these formats and not messing with the numbering.

Word does not let you save changes during "track on"

If you encounter this error when you need to save your work,
The workaround to save the changes that you have made is to
  • off the track first
  • change your document to final version

  • accept all changes that you have made in the document

Finally try to save your document again. hope it works for you.
